2.1 FORMAL LETTER
You are concerned that schools close towards the middle of the month in December every year. This leaves learners with not much time for rest and preparation for the following year.
Write a letter to the Minister of Basic Education in Pretoria in which you express your concerns AND wishes regarding this matter. [30]

2.2 NEWSPAPER ARTICLE
You are seriously concerned about the negative effect the publication of matric results in the media has on teenagers. For example, some of them commit suicide only to discover later that there was a mistake with their names not being published in the newspapers.
Write an article in which you express your views regarding how things can be
done differently to achieve better results. [30]

2.3 OBITUARY
A famous civic rights activist from your community has passed away after a long battle against an HIV/Aids related disease.
Write an obituary in which you highlight his/her role in fighting for the rights of women and children. [30]
OR
2.4 DIALOGUE
You have been considered by the Department of Education for a learner exchange programme. The programme will allow you to go to a European country for a year to learn about the country’s culture and other social programmes. You had a conversation with the Director of Education from your local education office, who wants to find out why you think you should be given the opportunity to study overseas.
Write out the conversation between yourself and the Director of Education.
